Termites are the most irritating species in the world which can cause damage to the properties in our day-to-day life. The termites are mostly available in moisture and dark areas, so it is important to avoid dark and moisture inside the place where you are living. Even the single sign of the termite should be treated to prevent your place from the termite affecting wood products. The termites can chew all the wood products and the cellulose content in the walls, which will cause cracks along the walls. There are many methods to avoid the presence of termites that can be done by yourself, which is also called self-termite control.
Termite Baits
Termite baits are traps that are extremely useful to eliminate the termite infestation and presence of termites. The bait consists of a container inside where the poison is stored. The wooden piece is placed inside the container which is mixed with poison. When the termite comes to chew the wood, it will chew the poison too and share it with the other termites in the colony. This will result in the elimination of termites completely.
Heat
Heat and light are the natural enemies of termites. This is the easiest and fastest method to kill the termites available in your place. This method is done by covering the area, and the temperature around the closed area is increased from 130 to 140-degree Fahrenheit, and this should be maintained for 35 minutes. After some time, the termites and the other pests which are present will be dead, and you can clear the place. This method should be done with an experienced person or a professional service expert.
Wet Cardboard
This method of controlling the termites has been following for more years. In this method, wet cardboard is placed where the termites are available. The cellulose content in the cardboard will attract the termites, wait till the maximum number of termites appears. The termite-absorbed cardboard is separated and burnt.
Boric Acid
Boric acid is the commonly used pest control method. In this method, the boric powder is used, which is also called sodium borate. The boric acid powder is mixed well with the water and some amount of sugar is added to the mixture. The liquid is placed in a spray bottle, and it should be sprayed in all the places of the home. The sugar content will attract the termites and the chemical in the boric acid will do its work. The chemical in the boric acid will make the nervous system of the termites unstable and make them die.
